he runners of the 4th edition of the Salomon Run will enter the Olympic Stadium and go through the Marathon door
In addition, the circuit will take the runners back to ‘El Poble a Espanyol’ with a new route of more kilometers inside this emblematic spot in Montjuïc
A 10km race with more than 1.000 stairs, views of the mountain, the sea and Barcelona
25 years ago, the archer Antonio Rebollo aimed at the Olympic cauldron in the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys to light up the flame and start the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. In its 4th edition, the Salomon Run will commemorate the Olympic anniversary entering to the stadium and making the 10km race more special. The runners will also go back to ‘El Poble Espanyol’, run a few hills and enjoy the views of the city.
This year’s circuit is full of new spots. Starting from the Magic Mountain of Montjuïc, the participants will face a demanding but, fun beginning: a flight of stairs leading their way through the ‘Passeig Jean Forestier’ to the MNAC. After a few hills they will enter the Botanic Garden and the ‘Jardins de Joan Maragall’ and will catch their breath in a downhill to go up again to the Baseball Pitch and the Communications Tower designed by Santiago Calatrava.
It will not be until the middle of the race when the participants arrive to what’s new of this edition: the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys. They will enter to the main scenario of any Olympic Games: the Olympic stadium. Moreover, they will leave the stadium passing through the most emblematic door: the marathon door, topped by two bronze horsemen, the clock and the symbolic cauldron which, Rebollo lighted up in 1992
After the emotional part of the race, the runners will go towards ‘El Poble Espanyol’. The Salomon Run continues to be one of the few races that ventures into one of the most emblematic and unique spots of Montjuïc. This year the participants will run more kilometers in ‘El Poble Espanyol’ and will discover its houses, streets and squares in ‘el barrio andaluz”.
In the last kilometers of the race, they will go around the MNAC and will be able to see the finish line, but first: two more flights of uphill and downhill stairs; a few meters in ‘El paseo de Santa Madrona’ with fountains, arcs and lush vegetation; another section of the magical ‘passeig Jean Forestier’ and after the last downhill stairs, the last sprint around the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc to arrive to the finish line and complete the 10km of this edition of the Salomon Run.
On March 23rd and April 4th at 7:30pm, Salomon organizes two free Community Runs for those who want to discover the circuit of the race. No need to register, just show up in the magic mountain looking forward to running and having fun.
The registrations for the race continue open in www.salomonrunbarcelona.com. The price is 16€ and it includes: a technical Salomon t-shirt for man/woman, timing chip single use, medical service, cloakroom and provisioning in the finish line.
On April 9th the 4th edition of the Salomon Run will take place. A race full of stairs, adventure and views of Barcelona that will take to ‘El Poble Espanyol’ and the Olympic Stadium. This year the Salomon Run Vertical will also be held, a sprint that will test the fastest and most adventurous.
